When we remove your braces, we will begin the retention stage of your treatment. In our office, the retention phase lasts for 12 months; however we recommend keeping your retainer and wearing it at least a few nights a week for life. Your final orthodontic result depends on your retainers, so follow through with the hard work you’ve put in so far. Remember to remove your retainer before brushing, and brush your retainer before placing it back in your mouth.
In our office, we offer not only removable retainers but also bonded retainers which are placed behind the front teeth. This is often desired so as to not have to put a retainer in and out, but it does require good oral hygiene.
